Mit seiner Musik malt dieses außergewöhnliche Trio unzählige Bilder, ganz als würde man durch ein Museum expressionistischer Kostbarkeiten wandern – Wenn Phillip Dornbusch, Will Glaser und Olly Chalk aus Berlin und London zusammen musizieren, sprechen sie miteinander und erzählen sich ihre Geschichten von Mythen und Märchen. Dabei ergibt sich ein Spiel zwischen Licht und Dunkelheit, Zaghaftigkeit und Dramatik, Zweifel und Hoffnung. Die Stücke entwickeln sich, sind ein immer weiter währender Prozess gleichsam einer fortschreitenden Erzählung und man bleibt nie stehen. Aus der Ferne schimmern ganz schemenhaft Erinnerungen der Jazz-Tradition inmitten des Klanggestus urbaner Improvisation: Mal plappernd, wabernd, flirrend und erregt, mal sanft, glänzend und schillernd wie Perlmutt machen die drei Musiker die vielfältigen Facetten ihrer Instrumente hörbar und erzeugen immer wieder eine andere Atmosphäre. Das ist Musik, bei der man sich in den Fluss des Klangprozesses hineinbegibt und sich von den drei Erzählern von der einen zur nächsten Geschichte führen lassen kann.

Olly Chalk:
Olly Chalk ist ein in London lebender Pianist und Komponist. Sein Album „Scathed Citizens“ erhielt den Peter Whittingham Development Award und wurde von dem äußerst innovativen Saxophonisten John O’Gallagher eingespielt, der Olly als „virtuosen Pianisten mit einer überzeugenden und einzigartigen musikalischen Vision“ beschrieb. Als fruchtbarer Komponist sind seine Kompositionen musikalische Labyrinthe, eine Ansammlung kurioser Fragmente und lebendiger, filmischer Themen, wobei die freie Improvisation das Herzstück des Ganzen bildet. Obwohl er ein gefragter Sideman ist, leitet Olly am liebsten seine eigenen Projekte wie Houndsbleat und to smithereens! – zwei Gruppen, die einige der einzigartigsten aufstrebenden Stimmen der Londoner Improvisationsmusikszene vereinen.

Will Glaser:
Will Glaser ist ein in London lebender Schlagzeuger und Perkussionist, der sich eklektisch auf die Jazztradition, improvisierte Musik, Rock, Noise, Folk, Blues, experimentelle und elektronische Musik stützt. Er leitet seine eigenen Projekte und ist ein sehr gefragter Schlagzeuger in der britischen Jazz- und Experimentalmusikszene.
Will hat mit einer Vielzahl von Künstlern gespielt, darunter James Allsopp, Ruth Goller, Alex Bonney, Tom Challenger, Olie Brice, George Crowley, Liam Noble, Soweto Kinch, Dame Cleo Laine, Stan Sulzmann, Kit Downes, Ben Van Gelder, Nikki Iles, Iain Ballamy und Dinosaur.

Phillip ist ein in Berlin lebender Saxophonist und Komponist. Mit der ersten Veröffentlichung „reflex“ hat seine Band „Phillip Dornbuschs Projektor“ bereits große Aufmerksamkeit in der deutschen Jazzszene erlangt. Neben seinem eigenen Projekt ist Phillip Dornbuschs Sideman in verschiedenen Bands und hat mit international renommierten Künstlern gespielt, wie z.B.: Kit Downes, Andrew D’Angelo, Lucia Cadotsch, Django Bates, Kurt Rosenwinkel und vielen anderen.

With its music, this extraordinary trio paints countless pictures, as if one were wandering through a museum of expressionist treasures - When Phillip Dornbusch, Will Glaser and Olly Chalk from Berlin and London make music together, they talk to each other and tell each other their stories of myths and fairy tales. The result is a play between light and darkness, timidity and drama, doubt and hope. The pieces develop, are an ever continuing process, as it were, of a progressive narrative, and one never stops. From afar, memories of the jazz tradition shimmer dimly amidst the soundscape of urban improvisation: sometimes chattering, wafting, shimmering and excited, sometimes soft, shiny and iridescent like mother-of-pearl, the three musicians make the many facets of their instruments audible and always create a different atmosphere. This is music in which one can enter into the flow of the sound process and let the three narrators lead one from one story to the next.
Olly Chalk:
Olly Chalk is a pianist and composer based in London. His album 'Scathed Citizens' received the Peter Whittingham Development Award and featured the fiercely innovative saxophonist John O'Gallagher who described Olly as 'a virtuoso pianist with a compelling and unique musical vision'. A fertile composer, his compositions are musical labyrinths, a gathering of curious fragments and vivid, cinematic themes with free improvisation cutting through the heart of it all. Though an in demand sideman, Olly most at home leading his own projects such as Houndsbleat and to smithereens! - two groups that feature some of the most unique emerging voices from within the London improvised music scene.

Drawing eclectically on the Jazz tradition, Improvised music, Rock, Noise, Folk, Blues, Experimental and Electronic music - Will Glaser is a London based drummer and percussionist. He leads his own projects and is a highly in demand drummer on the British Jazz and Experimental music scenes.
